Mental Preparation and Morning Routines

Traders can be superstitious, and market masters develop consistent morning routines, so they are ready to attack the opportunities of the day. This is how my mornings begin, and these are my strategies to mentally preparing for the trading day.

With nearly 24-hour trading and exchanges opening and closing as the globe spins from day to night, money never sleeps.

Sunday evening U.S. time is when the week begins as the focus starts with Asia’s open and futures markets awakening from the post-Friday finish rest. A before bed glance at action starts dreams of the week ahead.

Early rise on Monday morning begins with a peek at European stocks and the finish of China and Japan that had kicked off the weekly trade the night before. The U.S. stock market has yet to open at this point as the sunrise on our side of the International Date Line has just begun the new trading day.

A couple of hours before the NYSE bell, futures markets in Chicago are a frenzied force with price discovery in the economic building blocks of Oil, Gold, Rates and Stock indexes.

Morning Market Stir is an early morning video update on this crucial futures markets action that is the foundation for the trading day.

As the stock open approaches, financial headlines and pre-market movers get investor attention on CBOE TV. A quick review of prior performance, key level calculations, and a glance at the economic calendar put markets in perspective.

The morning bell opens the markets with a new session of opportunities to conquer. This is my routine. What’s yours?
