Hey everyone! It’s Aaron Fifield here, coming in with another installment of Chat With Traders.
My guest on this episode is Greg Newman. I was recently introduced to him by James King back from episode 133. James worked closely with Greg as the performance director at a London trading form. They were able to achieve really good breakthroughs in performance. In fact, in three years they built out an oil trading desk and multiplying their efforts significantly in the process.
Since then, Greg is still continuing as a serious trader of oil derivatives. He is also the founding partner of Onyx Commodities. Greg and his firm are the most active in oil futures as well as the energy sector). They also trade in related OTC products, also known as swaps.
I’m sure you’ll find this a very interesting topic. It’s something completely new, meaning it hasn’t been covered in previous episodes. You get to hear Greg talk about how he carefully tracks the physical, fundamentals and producers. We also go into futures and swaps, though we spend a lot more time on the former.
Also, Greg shares some of his own trading and risk management principals. Or, as he likes to call it, “trade craft.” He teaches us how you can use a tried and tested way to overcome obstacles, which happened to be developed by the car company Toyota.
