Welcome boys and girls!
I hope you got a chance to listen to the last two episodes with Aaron Brown. He was really great guest in my opinion and someone you should definitely learn from.
I also have another brilliant guest on this episode. His name is Rick Lane, CEO of Trading Technologies.
Yes, Trading Technologies has sponsored the podcast as well as a few events but asking Rick to be here is one hundred percent my idea. Just to be clear, it’s not a sponsored interview or anything like that.
I asked Rick to join me because to be frank, not everyone is going to make it as a trader. That’s not bad, trust me. Now this doesn’t mean you can’t play an important role within the trading field. It just means that you can leverage skills you already have.
Actually, Rick’s never been a trader. Before joining forces with his cousin he didn’t know the definition of a bid and offer. He was previously a product manager at Google and worked in the military to model combat scenarios.
Of course, he is now the CEO of Trading Technologies which is used a lot by banks, hedge funds and prop traders.
During this interview, we chat about the unique challenges with developing trading software, whether the latency wars are ending and things elite prop forms have been doing to shave nanoseconds of latency. He also shares some words of advice to those who want to become a technologies in the trading world.
What’s Covered in This Interview:
- How machine learning may be able to detect bad behavior with more accuracy
- The challenges that comes with trading compliance as well as the upcoming changes.
- Why Rick left modelling combat scenarios to go work for a large interest rate trader who had the foresight to automate some of his floor trading operation
- What the benefits are of having a company having a CEO with a development background.
- What is really interesting about the Fintech space, according to Rick.
- How you can become a technologist in the world of trading.
- Predictions on latency wars and the new trends that are coming.
