The trader featured in today’s interview is Ryan Moffett from Blackpier Capital, out of Knoxville, Tennessee.
Ryan’s experience runs the gambit from trading, portfolio construction, strategy design and even alternative investments over the last 12 years. He accumulated these experiences while working for several firms, one of which managed upwards of $2 billion.
Lately, Ryan has ventured out to start his own fund, where he has the title of Lead Investment Manager.
Some of the subjects we cover in this episode include; the snapping point that led Ryan to trading and cold-calling 50 fund managers for guidance; how he set up a mentoring network; the first steps to starting a fund and the unseen challenges.
We also discuss options, strategies, and research, but my favorite discussion point is Ryan’s insights into deliberate practice and identifying mental discomfort as a positive.
